News: Tim Heinemann | From Sim To DTM With The Right Equipment
The fact that sim racing is becoming more and more important in real-life motorsports should have hardly passed most racing enthusiasts by in recent years. With the help of sim racing, DTM driver Tim Heinemann has also found his way into motorsport (software: RaceRoom Racing Experience). According to him, the right equipment in SimRacing is the be-all and end-all when it comes to practicing for real motorsports. Tim uses numerous products available in the SimRacing Store, such as the F64-USB steering wheel from Ascher Racing or the Race Rig TT07 from TrackTime. In addition, other professional racers also like to use the TrackTime or Ascher Racing brands to prepare themselves optimally for the real racetrack.
Tim Heinemann, 25, is the first racer to make the jump from sim racing to the DTM (German touring masters). Sim racing offers the added value of getting to know tracks and honing one's own lap times without much effort, and so the hobby quickly turned into something more and Tim was able to gain important experience for his later involvement in real motorsport.
Thanks to several outstanding victories in various SimRacing competitions, Tim was able to first attract the attention of KW founder Klaus Wohlfarth and later, in a test with a real GT3 car, the DTM legend Bernd Schneider. From then on, he was always able to prove his speed in further tests and drove straight onto the podium in his later racing debut in 2018. Further successes followed in 2019 as part of his first full season in the ADAC GT4 Germany, but the final breakthrough came in 2020 with his championship title in the DTM Trophy, which he would repeat in 2022 thanks to an impressive season. In 2021, he also became champion of the GTC Race, thus celebrating his first GT3 title.
Now, in 2023, Tim Heinemann is driving his first season in the DTM. He and his team Toksport WRT will be using the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), which Tim has already successfully driven for FALKEN in the 24h Nürburgring race.
During the first race weekend in Oschersleben he was able to achieve an immediate success, bagged two second places and is now heading to Zandvoort for the second weekend as the championship leader.
